2010 TAPA AMERICAS

MEMBERSHIP

TAPA Membership, whether Corporate, Individual, Associate or as a Security Service Provider (SSP) brings you into the most vibrant, dynamic and professionally skilled organization in the world in the fight against cargo crime.

Today's fast-paced and rapidly changing supply chain environment requires that companies, agencies and individuals be aware and alert to the threat of cargo crime. HVTT (High Value Theft Targeted) goods are stolen daily in the Americas, and supply chain security professionals are on the front line in fighting that trend.  TAPA participation provides significant benefits to all of its members:

  • Tri-annual Conferences, each focused on a subject of particular interest to the membership and sponsored by members, provide news and breaking developments in the cargo security world. Industry experts, law enforcement and government provide useful and current presentations on trends, dangers, risks, and prevention techniques.  Open forum working sessions offer an opportunity to share experiences and ideas with colleagues.  Networking brings together the most skilled and experienced supply chain security experts in the world, and you become part of that network as they become part of yours.  THERE IS NO CHARGE TO ATTEND!!
  • TAPA's IIS (Incident Information System) contains nearly 2000 data files on cargo crime events in North America and is growing daily.  With the choice of Freightwatch USA as our new IIS service provider, development of an entirely new database system, and issuance of the first IIS Quarterly report from the new system, TAPA Americas offers outstanding information on cargo crime trends and patterns that can be most helpful to security managers, risk managers and logistics planners looking to protect cargo in the supply chain.  During 2010, the system will be expanded to provide more information about Mexico and South America, and a new INSTANT REPORT capacity will be rolled out.  By the end of May, the system will be linked to the TAPA website so that members can view and enter data directly.
  • Networking opportunities with over 700 security leaders worldwide.
  • Resource sharing and networking between private industry and law enforcement which is critical to the prevention and prosecution of cargo crime
  • Access to TAPA-recognized vendors and business partners who have proven records of contributing to TAPA member's security program successes.
  • An updated listing of law-enforcement contacts who have demonstrated an understanding of the unique needs of supply chain security professionals. Listings of responsive police contacts in many communities who have a background in aggressively handling HVTT theft cases.
  • Listings of career opportunities or available personnel in the supply chain security community.
  • Access to the password protected sections of the TAPA Website which contain resources, member contact information, published freight carrier security audit results, access to the Alerts Archives, recently published TAPA news, upcoming events information, and links to other on-line security resources.
  • Availability of security benchmarking information and studies
